We Desire...
Our Mission as Christ Community Covenant Church is to glorify God and seek His will for our personal lives and our lives together.
This mission is carried out by:
- Celebrating in the worship of God;
- Encouraging through mutual support, prayer and Christian fellowship;
- Teaching through biblical instruction leading to growth and understanding;
- Sharing the good news of God's love through word and action that people might commit their lives to Jesus Christ; and Serving the needs of those in our congregation, community and world.
Core Beliefs
- For Covenant people, our essential beliefs are summed up in what we call Covenant Affirmations:We affirm the centrality of the word of God.
- We affirm the necessity of the new birth.
- We affirm a commitment to the whole mission of the church.
- We affirm the church as a fellowship of believers.
- We affirm a conscious dependence on the Holy Spirit.We affirm the reality of freedom in Christ.
Rooted in God's Purposes
Our mission is rooted in God's purpose as revealed in Christ, and declared in Holy Scripture: "To bring all things in heaven and on earth under one head, even Christ" (Ephesians 1:10).
In order to achieve this purpose, this church, in the unity of the Spirit, shall use the gifts that God has given it and the means of grace which God has placed at its disposal: The Word of God, Prayer, Baptism and Holy Communion.

Meet Our Pastor...
Pastor Brent Carlson has been serving our church as pastor since 1999. He grew up in Hong Kong with missionary parents. At an early age he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and he has been involved in a variety of Christian ministries in the United States and in Hong Kong.
He has a Bachelor's degree from Trinity International University, an M.A. from Columbia International University and a Master of Divinity from Talbot Seminary (Biola University). In 1998 he completed a Doctor of Ministry from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois. Pastor Brent has been an ordained minister for over thirty years, and prior to coming to Owatonna he served churches in Milaca, Minnesota and California.
He says, "Our desire is that Christ Community Covenant Church be a gathering of people who worship Jesus Christ, who encourage and support one another in their faith, who help bring healing to people injured by a broken world, and who are released to minister as God leads. We need to create an environment where people know the love, acceptance and forgiveness that Jesus has to offer."
Pastor Brent enjoys talking with people from all walks of life and keeping up with his hobbies of photography and travel. More importantly, he and his wife appreciate the opportunity offered through social media and cell phones to keep in touch with their six children and three grandchildren who live in different states across our country from coast to coast. Pastor Brent and Cathi have been married for over 40 years and together they continue to be enthusiastic about their ministry in the local church to which God has called them.
